Principal's Corner

Greetings Panther Nation,

Welcome to a new school year. We are so excited to have you back; we’ve missed you! We look forward to continuing to strive for excellence and we commit to growth throughout your high school years. For the upcoming school year, there are several new additions to our staff, including new administrators. Mr. Harris comes to us from McMinn County where he has served in several leadership roles. He will lead the Freshman Academy. Mrs. Martin comes to us from Signal Mountain Middle/High School. She has been instrumental in the SMMHS International Baccalaureate Program. She will lead the Entrepreneurship Academy. Additionally, we will have a Dean of Students, Ms. Desiree Seay, to assist us in preparing our students for success.

We are looking forward to a great year!  With the restructuring of our academic programs and daily bell schedule, we hope to provide a more personalized learning environment. The reintroduction of the academy structure including the Future Ready Institutes of Aviation and Forensic Science as well as the Freshman and Entrepreneurship Academies will bring many opportunities for our students to interact with members of our community. I am excited about the leadership we have in place as well as the many opportunities for student growth and development.

The Panther Nation will experience many changes as we look forward to charting a new era of success. As we experience this influx of change, I look forward to hearing from you. We look forward to making decisions at Brainerd that are student-centered and will help prepare you for any post-secondary options you choose to undertake.  At Brained: We inspire, we encourage and we strengthen each member of the Brainerd High School community to embody excellence. We cultivate the knowledge, the skills and the mindsets of life-long learning and leadership necessary to enhance and transform our world and our communities.

As we Strive for Excellence and Commit to Growth, we are raising expectation for students, families, and staff. Our expectations will help us to provide all students and staff a safe, friendly, and productive environment that is conducive to learning. Please know that our doors are always open to students and families. Never hesitate to see us if you have an issues or concerns. We look forward to an outstanding school year. And once again welcome back to the Panther Nation!

Panther Nation Forever,
Christopher "Chris" James
