Experience

Brainerd High School is the first and only school that I've taught at. This is my 5th year at BHS. This is also my 3rd year as the assistant girls basketball coach at BHS.

Prior to BHS, I worked for the GearUp program through UTC and did placements at Orchard Knob Middle School. I did my student teaching through UTC at Dalewood Middle School, CSAS, and Soddy Daisy High School so I've been lucky to experience schools and students from all different backgrounds, which I think is extremely important.

Bio

I was raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee where I graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 2003. I was a 3 year varsity basketball player, and ended as one of the top 10 leading scorers in school history. I take great pride in being from Oak Ridge, and really feel like it helped mold me in to the person I am today. I will always consider Oak Ridge my home!

After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, I received a scholarship to play basketball at Maryville College. Maryville College is a great school and has a beautiful campus, but I ultimately decided that I needed a change of scenery and transferred to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in the Spring of 2004.

Transferring to UTC turned out to be one of the best decisions that I've made. While at UTC, I was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, where I met many life-long friends who I am still close with today. I always considered myself an "average" student, but while at UTC I made the Dean's list from 2005-2008, and that really inspired me to become a teacher so that I could help other students become more than average.

UTC was responsible for introducing me to my wife Emily. Emily is a native of Ooltewah, TN and had it not been for UTC, chances are we would've never met. We have a 3 year old son named Kingston, who is quite a character and is constantly keeping us entertained.

When I'm not working or coaching at BHS, I really just like to relax and spend time with friends and family. Basketball has always been my passion, so I enjoy watching NBA games on TV and playing pick up games on the weekend. I try and spend as much time with my son as I can because time flies by and I don't want to miss a thing. It's hard to believe that he's already three!
